Cold Mountain

"Marrying a woman for her beauty makes no more sense than eating a bird for its singing. But it's a common mistake nonetheless." -- Old woman of the mountains, Cold Mountain, a novel by Charles Frazier.

I understand that this novel was made into a movie. I'd never seen or heard of the flick, but the book is one of those where the writing is so good, I'm not anxious to get to the end. Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, late in the Civil War. Excellent read.

Hit motion picture back in 2003. Renee Zellweger won an Oscar for her performance and there were about a dozen other nominations as well including best picture. Didn't see it, though.
