expansion

The destruction of the Big 12, in full effect. And, to what end?

Nebraska to the Big Ten. Any more teams to follow? Which teams can the Big Ten add to avoid officially becoming a second-rate conference?

Colorado to the Pac-10. Supposedly, the Pac-10 wants to end up with 16 teams by also adding Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech.

Here, we've got Boise State coming to the Mountain West from the WAC. That's a good fit, but I don't know if it'll give the MWC any BCS clout. I don't know if this massive realignment is gonna help any of the teams that have been locked out of the BCS championship in the past, unless the MWC can manage to pull in some other big names.

And speaking of names, what will these new conferences be called? The Big Ten has had eleven teams for years as it is. As for the Pac-10, calling Arizona and Arizona State "Pacific Coast teams" was already stretching things to begin with. I hope both of those conferences will get completely new names to reflect the new reality.

Sad part is that, at the end of the day, we've still got the same lame BCS system, and no playoffs in college football.
